Good afternoon everyone,
We were blessed with a nice gentle rain yesterday. The air is much cooler, and the sun is shining bright and clean. The sky is beautifully blue. A pleasant autumn day. We had a light frost a couple of mornings.
The garden is mostly cleaned out and a winter ground cover sowed in. I still have a couple heads of cabbage that I want to leave out as long as it doesn’t freeze.
Next comes the job of doing fall house cleaning and then we can get busy with sewing. A few weeks ago, the church ladies sewing group spent part of a day knotting and hemming comforters for MCC. It was an enjoyable time.
The trees in the woods are beginning to change color. Hopefully it will get to be colorful again.
It looks like the events in Mt. Hope are becoming less as winter approaches.

Apple and pumpkin season are here. For my recipe I chose a unique Baked Oatmeal with Apples in the bottom.
- 2 cups honeycrisp apples, or your choice
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup pecan pieces
- ½ cup raisins
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- ½ cup honey
- 4 tbsp honey
Peel and cut up apples; scatter evenly on the bottom of a greased 13×9 baking dish. Mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over apples. Bake, uncovered at 325° for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. From “Boundless Bites” cookbook.
I have not made this yet, but I believe I will.
