Good afternoon everyone,

Are you folks all ready for spring? It is coming, although
it still feels quite chilly outside. Birds are coming back. It
is invigorating to hear the songs of the meadowlark and
red-winged blackbird.

This morning I saw the moon on the western horizon yet
before it slipped out of sight behind the trees. It was a
beautiful morning and the thermometer showed 28° when I
left for work at about 7:30. About 45 minutes later I looked
out the front door of the store and was surprised to see how
foggy it was. The weather can change mighty quick in Ohio ?
The calendar shows Wed, March 20th as the first day of
spring and on Friday the 22nd is my first planned day to go
birding! The forecast looks favorable as of now and we will focus
on waterfowl. Exciting!

On Friday evening, March 22nd a dinner fundraiser for Phil
Sarlo will be held at Cornerstone Mennonite Assembly. Some
of you may know him from when we have had live music here
at the store. He was in a bad car accident, and is in rehab.
The funds will go towards medical bills. Here are the details:

Our church youth plan to have a “work bee” on Tuesday
evening to help a young family get some work done. “Many
hands make work light.”

A lady asked for a recipe to make a breading for chicken
using runion mix. We did some searching and found one that
I will share with you all. It is Rosetta Burkholder’s recipe in
the book, “Kitchen Heirlooms”

Runion Mix for Fried Chicken
• 1/2 cup whole wheat flour  • 3 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoon paprika               • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper      • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
Mix all together. Use 1/3 cup seasoning mix to 1 cup runion,
Use this mix for fried chicken.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man
runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:11

Until next month,
