Good morning,

After coming home from church yesterday afternoon it started snowing slowly, but soon it was coming down faster and by evening we had approximately 3 inches. After dark I went out for a walk. It was pleasant and rather interesting. The snow was still falling with only a slight breeze and the temperature was around 29°. Everything, except the diesel at the barn, seemed muffled. Even the tail lights of a vehicle in the distance were a blurry, pinkish blob. It was quiet. A buggy came slowly up the road and because of the snow, the horse’s foot steps did not make a sound. Occasionally the steel rim of the buggy wheel cut through the snow and made a clinking noise as it hit the asphalt.

Now, this morning, we have a good blanket of snow. It looks so pretty and clean again, but it is very foggy and the snow is melting on the roads. We have 39° at 10:40AM. I saw the neighbor, a young man, outside building a snowman for the children.

If you want to be where the action is, come to the Mt Hope Auction Center this weekend on Thursday, Friday & Saturday (14th, 15th & 16th). The Air Works auction is one of the biggest events of the year and draws lots of people. It is mostly tools, equipment, machinery, etc but does include collectibles and primitives as well.

There will be a free shuttle service from there to the Health Expo at the Heritage Center on 62 between Berlin and Winesburg on Friday & Saturday. On March 4th-9th the Mid-Ohio Horse Sale will be held at Mt Hope. It also draws a lot of people.

These three events give many people something to do during the slower winter months. Come see what they’re all about!
