Dear folks near and far,                                                      7.5.21

We are enjoying another authentic summer day, warm and hazy.

I hope everyone is enjoying a safe, long holiday weekend. The youth are having one afternoon and evening of recreation and a fellowship meal. Although we would be glad for some rain, for their sake I hope for dry weather.

This past Friday and Saturday Mt. Hope hosted a lot of people at the Horse Progress Days. It takes a lot of work and organizing to hold an event of that size. One thing they did was demonstrate how field work (farming) can be done with horses.

Now for more upcoming events at Mt. Hope:

  • July 8th & 15th Sheep and Goat Auction
  • July 16th & 17th Swap Meet
  • July 23rd & 24th Rainbow of Hope Benefit Sale
  • August 5th-7th Steam and Engine Show
  • August 14th Sportsman for Humanity

Ashery will be having Summer Sale July 22nd-24th.

Our pea crop is coming to an end. It is time to pull the plants. Green beans will be next to pick and can. Corn and soybeans are growing and looking good. I noticed the organic farmer was cultivating his corn.

We are not seeing very many Orioles this summer and my sister in law said they don’t either. I wonder if anyone else has noticed that?

Here is a simple, easy, refreshing smoothie recipe:

Triple Berry Smoothie

½ cup red and black raspberries

½ cup blueberries

½ cup strawberries

1 cup ice

2 cups water

Blend and enjoy!

Have a good summer,

Sovilla
