Greetings from the Ashery to all our wonderful customers,

July marks the time of the year when there is a lot of excitement in the air as we anticipate the filling up of our produce shelves with locally grown produce. At the Ashery, “Local” means grown right here in Amish Country.

Summer produce also brings back a fun memory I have as a kid growing up at the Ashery – Mom would serve fresh watermelon and me and some of my family members would stand on the front porch of the house here to eat it.

We would all stand, leaning out across the railing as we ate and would drop our seeds into the flower beds below. It was sometime later we couldn’t figure out why there were watermelon plants growing in the flower beds. It suddenly dawned on us what had happened. ?

We are looking forward to seeing many of you this summer at some point. Have a great Summer making memories and just remember to be careful where you spit your watermelon seeds, ?

Cheers, Curt Yoder
