Good morning everyone,

It is Monday morning in the middle of September, and it is warm and sunny. When I first went outside this morning I thought it might feel cool, but it wasn’t cool for very long.

The warmth we have had the last while still feels like summer, but Fall is coming. The leaves on the trees are beginning to change color and the air seems more quiet. The birds don’t sing much anymore but the buzzing of the insects is more noticeable. The Goldenrod that grows in the fence rows and along the roadside is blooming beautifully. This is a good time to enjoy cooking food outside over an open fire. Yesterday we enjoyed a cook-out with family. We had breakfast food for lunch.

Here are some upcoming events for your calendar:

• This week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (Sept 19-21) the Ashery is having the annual Fall Harvest Sale. We are looking forward to seeing lots of people, so come and join the fun.
• On Sept 26-28 the Airworks Consignment Auction and Mt Hope Tool Show is to be held at the Event Center at Mt Hope.
• On October 7-11 will be the Draft Horse Expo at Mt Hope. Also on September 19-21 is the Mid Ohio Alternative Animal and Bird Sale
• On Saturday Sept 21st in the small town of Winesburg they will have their annual Auction and Fall Festival.

Here is a recipe for a Breakfast dish that you may want to try. I found it in A Better Breakfast cookbook:

Breakfast Pie
• 3 TBSP oil
• 3 cups shredded potatoes
• 1 cup milk
• 3 eggs
• ¾ cup cooked ham
• 1 cup grated cheese
• ¼ cup chopped onion
• Salt and Pepper to taste

Mix together oil and potatoes. Press evenly into a pie pan. Bake at 425° for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Beat together milk, eggs, salt and pepper. Add ham cheese and onions. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with parsley flakes. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes. Wait 5 minutes to cut.
